In my life I've witnessed an instance of operant conditioning when I was younger and was crying at my friends house and after a while my parents allowed me to stay over longer because I wouldn't stop crying since I didn't want to leave. This was an example of positive reinforcement because my parents gave in and allowed me to stay longer so they reinforced my concept to cry when I didn't want to leave
wouldn't your crying act as a form of negative reinforcement? In class Mr. Womack demonstrated negative reinforcement through making a yeti call and getting someone to hand a remote back to him. It all depends on what perspective you're taking, but I view this as negative reinforcement .

ReplyDeleteYour example is of positive reinforcement not negative reinforcement. You are correct. Your parents rewarded you for crying, so the behavior of crying did increased. This a perfect example of positive reinforcement since a reward was use to increase a behavior.
